Hello! And thank you for your interest/help with this very worthwhile cause.
This fundraiser is for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. This wonderful organization helps with educating, supporting, and raising money for research for a cure. That's right... Over 1.4million people are effected by Crohn's and Colitis, with ages ranging from school children to grandparents.. and while there are treatments and medicine that can help people live productive lives, there is currently no cure.
Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease are the most common types of inflammatory bowel disease. Ulcerative colitis affects only the colon and rectum. Crohn’s can affect any part of the digestive tract.

Finding a cure for Crohn's is a cause that touches me deeply. I suppose you could call me an unofficial advocate! My best friend/sister, Linda, was diagnosed in 1997 while active in the US Army. Unfortunately, she had to have surgery right away to treat her disease. Linda had been ill for three years prior to the diagnosis and the disease had a lot of time to rampage her system. Since the time Linda was diagnosed she has had a total of 13 surgeries related to her Crohn's disease.
Linda's Crohn's has never gone into remission and at this time she is taking the last available drug for treatment of Crohn's disease. None of the other drugs have worked to keep her Crohn's under control, and she has suffered from nearly every related condition known to Crohn's in the last 12 years. Needless to say, the past few years have been very touch and go -- we thought we were going to lose her on more than one occasion. She will be 35 this June, she is married, with two sons and two stepdaughters.
Most recently, her doctors told her she is now suffering from Peripheral Neuropathy and will have to begin walking with a cane. Despite this fact, Linda and her entire family will be participating with TAKING STEPS in Nashville TN - this is a fundraising walk-a-thon. When her doctor told her she could cancel the walk if she thought it would be too much, she looked at him and said: If I have to walk on my hands, I'm doing this walk.
This is just one example of the lives that are effected by Crohn's and Colitis. Your participation, donation, and support are very sincerely appreciated. 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will be going to CCFA.
