psycho putzo

psycho putzo, originally uploaded by rafeejewell.

Trouble on the grid for me as I am having some issues with the new viewer. I keep losing the stream and my camera is borked. Sometimes after I snap a pic there is no image; just black. Blah...

dj psycho putzo party

I did catch a few pics at BassLine Island at their main stage while dj Psycho Putzo was spinning a very HARD style Drum and Bass set. Gawd, my entire body was vibrating to the hard beats.

Only 18 years, his youth reflects the total abandonment into the music as he spins. Very loose, very hard beats... BassLine is lucky to have his energy! I can imagine the grin on his face as he assaults our ears with the pounding bass and screaming industrial noises. His set got very, very dark and entered the realm of dark psy, industrial, goth and definitely helped me to understand his avatar's name, Psycho Putzo!

But, I lost my stream everytime I would take a picture. Geesh... gotta figure this out!

indie rock for RFL carnival 2009

Woke up with a nice hot cup of tea, when I got dj Space Grelling's tp for the Indie Rock for RFL Carnival.

thank you to donors

What a cool place for a fundraising event! In a distressed setting on AXISLE sim set next to an old carnival amusement park, Space's alternate music was the appropriate setting for the bizarre and absurd icons there.

Welcome 2009 Indie Rock RFL Ca...

I drank my tea and just chilled out to the likes of the Ocean Colour Scene, Primal Scream, Happy Mondays, Ash, Blur, New Order, Pulp, The Smiths, The Cure, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, The La's, Inspiral Carpets, Saint Etienne, Catatonia, The Primitives, Sleeper, Teenage Fanclub, Suede, Supergrass, Cast, The Divine Comedy, Cornershop, Dodgy, Babybird, Oasis, The Sundays and the Verve.

djosiris darkstone in second life

What comes around goes around... avatars leave and avis come back, and this avi is back again!

DJOsiris Darkstone is back on the grid spinning his magic. I first met Osi at Organica many moons ago. He was always a bit different than the other dj's.

He settled in with old friends at House Divaz, hanging with djxHalloween Boa and the rest of the Divaz gang. I would go listen to him regularly where he would take out the old vinyl, as a purist, and give his all to his sets.

hydrogen club in second life

Tonight I catch him at Hydrogen, an industrial club on the Molokai sim. Osi was spinning an eclectric, post-industrial set. He loves his craft and it shows. He is usually AFK and all his friends know that he's probably organizing his huge catalogue of music when he doesn't answer.

I am happy so see an old friend back and even happier to hear him again! Woot!

DJ ISItheDREAMAKER Teskat

DJ ISItheDREAMAKER, originally uploaded by rafeejewell.

There are only a few DJ's on the Second Life grid that can make me drop everything to go hear them. And they know who they are...

DJ IsitheDreamaker Teskat is the King of Hardstyle trance. The first time I heard him was at Teknival pounding the tunes so hard that the beats were vibrating into my chest. I was astounded at his set. And I never forgot that moment.

I had been introduced to hardstyle trance by an old friend, Bio, a German who used to frequent Dance Island regularly. The two of us would dance during the European hours following the likes of Kryonami, the hardstyle master at that time.

Now, I have best of both worlds. DJ IsitheDreamaker also pounds the decks at Dance Island and his own club, Domina Disco. Isi is supreme!

martino bamaisin aka dj Tino

martino bamaisin aka dj Tino, originally uploaded by rafeejewell.

Early Wednesday I got a shout from a club that I hadn't been to before. Very pretty and high in the sky at about 750 meters.

Lightlounge is pink, pale blue, gray with a steely texture. Very minimalist like the music that DJ Martino Bamaisin was playing. His friends call him Tino and he plays at many clubs in Second Life.

He is also part of the United Beats group for the Vania sim.

dj particle aka emi halcali

dj particle aka emi halcali, originally uploaded by rafeejewell.

Tuesday night at Organica on the Happy Clam Island sim is a psy assault of three very powerful djs.

Starting with Emi Halcali aka DJ Particle who spins whatever she wants while adhering to the psy parameters. She mixes a bit of the mash to keep things very interesting. I love coming to her sets... she always surprises me.

Next on the agenda is another favorite DJ Barbs Kurka who I just wrote about over at Dorian Grey club. Yes, she spins here too. She's a great follow-up after the eclectic mash of DJ Particle.

Ending the evenings on Tuesday is the well-known psy DJ Qee Nishi. She is definitely one of the best psy dj's on the SL grid. The Organica Tuesday night is a blast. Go check it out.

barbs kurka

barbs kurka, originally uploaded by rafeejewell.

Many of the avis that I meet in Second Life wear several hats. Some are sim owners or builders or dj's or artists. It is rare that I ever meet an avi that just does one thing on the grid.

Barbs Kurka is one of those avis. She is a DJ for the well-known club Dorian Grey, but she is also the builder of this club, too.

Sweet, quiet and low-key, Barbs is not like most dj's. She let's her music do the talking for her. And that quiet demeanor hides a fierce music repertoire of psy and trance. She can get a party started when she spins.

opera, mariachi on mother's day at opera joven

This weekend Opera Joven sim opened to a successful crowd of enthusiastic avis. Lago de Chapala & Isla de los Alacranes is a beautiful addition to both the culture of Mexico and the grid itself.

brent renard opera singer at o...

The sim, Opera Joven is a non-profit organization for the Jalisco community in Mexico for promotions of the Jalisco and Mexican cultures.

Mariachi music was playing during the Mother's Day celebration on Sunday afternoon. Dressed in Charro outfits, Brent Renard and his fellow performers gave a beautiful show of vocals. Soaring voices and acoustic guitars enhanced the Spanish words and romantic music.

Big thanks to Brent Renard for this new sim offering and the joys of opera. The "opera" is live in Second Life. And the crowds that showed up today prove that this music is well-received here in our virtual world.
